This dog is where it all started. She was bred by T Lubbe from Burgersdorp. She was out of Bet and Clyde. Bet was imported and went back to the Dryden Joe Line and Glyde came out of Bennie Strydom’s Spot and Floss, they where both imported. We bought her 1995. She had a huge gap to fill when my first dog died unexpectingly, and at a very young age she already showed signs of a remarkable dog. At the young age of 10 months she won her first trial. I remember working her in the day and late afternoons doing some training. I was very inexperienced at that stage and made some big mistakes in her training, in spite of that she still turned out a champion. She was an incredible good listener and reacted very, very quick on commands.
She taught me how to work cattle and when to take pressure away and when to put it on. When she was 5 years old I trained her to back sheep (run on there backs in the kraal to move them easier). It took me only a few days to accomplish this. Sheep just except her and she was able to work close to even the wildest sheep. Her ability to read sheep was outstanding and when she was older she often ignored some of my commands on the trial field, and most of the time she was righ.t This dog has set the bar so high it will be extremely difficult to get one that will match her abilities.
Some of her achievements are as follows. She has won the Dog Of The Year award five times, in 1999 and from 2001 to 2004. This award is for the dog with the most points during a trialing season. In 2000 she won the SA Nationals. In the Brace competition she has won the SA Brace title six times and the Brace of the Year seven times. Brace is where you work two dogs together, during her career she had three different brace partners. But it was on the farm she was worth more than her weight in gold. Together we had gathered thousands of sheep. Jessie worked hard her whole life and would never hold back, she put her body on the line every time we worked. Because of this I decided to retire her early at the age of nine years. She started to have trouble with her legs. Now four years later I know it is almost time for her to go, her atherrites is bad and she moves with difficulty.
During her life she has bred some fine dogs, some of them shown here.

Unfortunately Jessie died in 2008 she was truly a great dog and I believe her legacy will live on.
