I have been fortunate to be asked to do some clinics in Australia.
FIELD TRIAL WORKSHOPS (ISDS style) by top South African & International sheepdog trialler & trainer - FAANSIE BASSON INTERESTED? FIND OUT MORE - Contact Co-ordinator - Denise Agnew - after 6pm. Mob: 0402 160 626 COST: $240 for the weekend, with dogs $80 w/e fence sitters without dogs - morning teas and lunches included - What is ISDS? International Sheep Dog Society International Sheepdog Trials are held in paddocks and demonstrate useful, practical skills worked by dogs on farms. Dogs and handlers work together to achieve tasks like gathering sheep from afar, driving them on a set course, shedding (separating some sheep and holding them away from the rest) and putting sheep in a pen. Plans are in train to begin these trials here later in 2012. The South African system suits Australian conditions with suitable courses for dogs and handlers working at different levels - Beginners to Top Dogs. Early levels don’t have the more difficult aspects of the ISDS course - the full ISDS course is Senior Dog level - and there are even more challenging tasks for Top Dogs. South Africa began sheepdog trials with Australian arena trials, later introducing field trials. Both now sit comfortably together. Faansie Basson will come here understanding current Australian trials as he introduces us to new skills for dogs and handlers for the ISDS field trials. Enjoy the company of other sheepdog enthusiasts as we
learn together at the workshops
